UK Statutory Holiday Entitlement

All UK workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year regardless of their working pattern. For a standard full-time employee working 5 days a week this equals 28 days. Part-time workers receive the same 5.6 weeks on a pro-rata basis. The 28-day cap means workers who do more than 5 days per week cannot receive more than 28 days.

Bank holidays and your contract: There is no automatic right to take bank holidays off — it depends on your contract. If your contract says "28 days including bank holidays" you get 28 days total. If it says "28 days plus bank holidays" you get 28 + all applicable bank holidays. Always check your contract wording.

Zero-Hours & Irregular Hours Workers (from April 2024)
